Hi, I’m Scott Herold and I will be the host of this blog on Foglight.org. Some of you may know me from my book, VMware ESX Server: Advanced Technical Design Guide, or my personal blog www.vmguru.com. I joined Quest a few months ago when Vizioncore was acquired.
There are many people that have either been involved in helping Quest design and test the virtualization cartridge for Foglight 5.2 or happened to swing by our booth at the VMworld Europe show last month in Cannes, France. The initial reactions we have received are impressive to say the least. As this blog evolves, we will discuss some of our unique technology and insight into the virtualization monitoring space, as well as provide a glimpse into the evolution of the technology to understand the importance of properly monitoring your virtual infrastructure.
This blog will provide an outlet to provide market insight into the space while separating that from my personal blog at www.vmguru.com, which has a more technical focus. For those interested in more information about some of what it took to get to where we are today with the Foglight for the VMware offering, I posted an interesting piece at the beginning of the week highlighting my involvement and intimacy with the product at http://www.vmguru.com/content/view/55/44/.
By the way, my second book is coming soon. VMware Infrastructure 3: Advanced Technical Design Guide and Advanced Operations Guide took a while to write because it provides a ton of information packed into 650 pages. Sample chapters are avilable from vmguru.
