As of Foglight 5.5 we now have a nologin option to setup Foglight portlets into Sharepoint.
in order to make this work. you have to configure a few things in foglight and when using Sharepoint you need not to use the Foglight Webpart but use the Page Viewer Web Part
1. Create a User called “NoLoginUser” 2. Give the user the password “abcdefg1” 3. Give the user the “Console” Role so he can use the UI 4. Grant the user a Role/Group that gives access to the desired Views Best Practice: make this a restrictive Role that only has the views you want to expose
5. Access your view with the following URL: http://<server>:<port>/console/foglight_ext?viewId=<viewId> (ViewId can be obtained through the Dashboard properties
Add the URL from the above to Page Viewer Web Part in Sharepoint

I followed the instructions in the blog post but I seem to have run into a bit of a problem. Whenever I try to view the web part that I created, it's asks me for a username and password. Is there any way to configure foglight or sharepoint in such a way that it does not ask for that? This is supposed to be distributed to the entire company and some people don't have (or need, for that matter) a login to the FMS. I have a NoLoginUser (which is is the nologin group) set up, I just don't really want to distribute that password to everyone...
Another thing, even when I log in as an administrator (when the remote web part asks me for credentials), I can't see anything. The remote web part is blank. I don't get any error messages, I just can't see the page that I am linking too.
And a third problem... Once I install the remote web part .cab file, I can create exactly one remote web part. I cannot add another remote web part anywhere. I tried to follow rrowcliffe's instructions, but I can't seem to be able to create a Page Viewer Web Part. I see that the option is available, but when i click on it, nothing happens.
Any advice? I'm getting the feeling that this may be more of a sharepoint issue than anything...

Alright, I've discovered that Chrome is not supported in Sharepoint... That gets rid of Quote:And a third problem... Once I install the remote web part .cab file, I can create exactly one remote web part. I cannot add another remote web part anywhere. I tried to follow rrowcliffe's instructions, but I can't seem to be able to create a Page Viewer Web Part. I see that the option is available, but when i click on it, nothing happens. that problem. I still don't know how to tell sharepoint about a specific foglight user to use when going to this web part. Is there a config file somewhere?

Cheers Ryan
I've been looking to create a few dashboards that are widely available, so this helps a lot.
Couple of things that I stumbled on
1) It looks like you have to grant the anonymous role access via both the "Relevant Role" and the "Allowed Role" options in the dashboard properties (Eliott - It might be this one that's causing you grief). 2) The ViewID is also known as Reference Id, which can be found under the dashboard "Properties" > "Link to this page" (not the string of characters found at the end of the url).

I don't seem to have an anonymous role... I do have a NoLoginUser which, according to the documentation, should allow for a password-less login. However, I do not seem to be able to figure out how to set up such a login. I have been able to successfully get a web part to show up in sharepoint if I log into foglight. However, I would like to not have to log in, if at all possible. I've searched the docs and have come up with nothing...

Hi
You have to create a role which will be used to grant the anonymous access (e.g. "anonymous_access_role").
You then create a group with your NoLoginUser as a member called something sensible (e.g. "anonymous_access_group"), you then need to assign that group your anonymous access role plus the console role.
Then all you need to do is add your anonymous access role to the dashboards you want to allow anonymous access.

OK, I got foglight and sharepoint working together (mostly). I created a No Login role and used that in the relevant and allowed roles on the dashboard that I wanted to link to. In sharepoint, I cannot use the remote web part that comes with foglight (earlier in the thread, there is a link to a blog on how to set that up). I have set it up correctly, but it does not seem to support HTTPS. We don't have HTTP access configured on our FMS. I have attempted to put https:// in front of the host name (when setting up the web part in sharepoint) and I've changed the port number to the appropriate secure port. But none of that seems to work very well. Is this just an issue with the remote web part, or is it something that I am doing wrong? If I try to use the remote web part on the insecure connection, Internet Explorer complains that some of the data on the page is insecure (our sharepoint server is https). This is more of an annoyance than anything and some of the less technical users may be confused by that. Summary: Is there a way to use HTTPS with the remote web part (detailed here: http://foglight.org/Blog/tabid/55/EntryID/57/Default.aspx)?

Hi
I've created a test page in our SharePoint site and using the Page Viewer Web Part have been able to display the anonymous access dashboard without a error or usernames popping up. Our SharePoint and Foglight sites are both HTTPS.
Are you using the SharePoint "Page Viewer" Web Part, or the Foglight web part, I've not had much luck using the later, so that maybe the problem?

Hi
Just had a look at the blog link you've posted, I wouldn't use the Foglight remote web part, give the SharePoint "Page Viewer" web part a go.

Andy, Looks like the Page Viewer is the only web part to support the No Login Options. The foglight Webpart was built prior to this nologin user functionality so until they update the Foglight webpart.
I would use only the Page Viewer Webpart

OK - We followe'd rrowcliffe's instructions from the post on 10/8/2009. It worked like a charm until we upgraded from 5.5.0 to 5.5.4.1 on Friday. Now the dashboards show up, but the images of the graphs don't :-/ (Broken images)

Jason, Sorry to hear the upgrade caused a few problems. Upgrades always make things more fun. :)
Based on assumptions. Was the Dashboard you used a canned dashboard from a cartridge? If so I would expect the behavior your talking about. most likely the roles got over-written. You will need to possible check the dashboards to make sure your Role is still in it.
Let me know how you get on with it.

Yea - Support confirmed that what we hit was a bug....that's to be fixed in 5.5.5. The items in the dashboard were just drag/drop items from the JavaEESystems Data.
